The story centers around Junichirō Kagami, a young man obssesed with manga, anime and games. He was a young genius who published papers in the journals Nature and Sciencewhen he was only 17. However, after graduating collage, he became a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) absorbed in his anime blog. Unable to watch Kagami throw away his life, his sister Suzune gets him to work at the Ichō Academy she attends. The head of the school's board, Koyomi Hiiragi, assigns Kagami to his new life as a teacher.
Azuma has been drawing the manga inShogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine since late last year. The Japanese title of the manga literally means "Electromagnetic-Wave Teacher," a reference to the term denpa-kei for people who act bizarrely, such as extreme otaku. The slang was coined from people who claimed their actions were caused by electromagnetic waves (denpa) they received.

The student body can submit pleas for help into the suggestion box that Medaka installed. It has been revealed that Piko, the singer most recently known for his song "Make my Day!", the opening to Binbogami ga!, will make his debut as a voice actor in August 22 episode of the series. Noted for his wide range and his initial debut online, Piko's videos have received a total of over 30 million views on video sharing websites. He also performed at concerts in Taiwan and Hong Kong last year. To Love-Ru spin-off anime to premiere in October Musical artists Ray and Kanon Wakeshima will perform the opening and ending theme songs for this Fall's To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness anime series. Ray sang the opening theme "sign" for Waiting in the Summer (Ano Natsu de Matteru). Known for her haunting mix of cello and vocals, Wakeshima previously performed the ending themes for Vampire Knight and Vampire Knight Guilty. She recently opened for Moi dix Mois at Sakura-Con in Seattle this year.
